Innovation: North East

The North East of England is a hub of Innovation. This project proposes a literature system of factual and informative publications that celebrate the stories of innovation that originates and is formed within the North East. The system is broken up into different levels: the first level is a brief account of an invention; the second level is a deeper story of an invention and the third level is a far more detailed account of someone’s life story in relation to innovation within the North East.
I designed a logo that would represent the nature of innovation and also celebrate and emphasise the North East. Within the name of INNOVATION, within the VA, a natural angle tilted in the direction of the North East, emphasised using colour.
For my first series I focused on the engineering within the North East where I focused on the copper foil colours, using a foiling method to emphasise this. I also used the colours of a gold yellow, a royal blue and also a rusty red to compliment the engineering tone and to allow the reader to easily navigate their way through the series.
Designed for use in the Discovery Museum, I hope that my literature system will be both informative and a riveting read for all.
